But We Always Know Best! Right?

I pretty much know it all by now.No seriously, I've been enrolled in the school so long I don't work towards grad anymore but simply try to ace the tests. Yeah, the school of hard knocks, I've seen you roaming the halls from time to time too.So yeah, if it needs a solution I pretty much have it.Riiiiight! Who am I kidding?I'm sitting in the dentist chair yesterday realizing there is great value in listening to the suggestions of those around you. There are benefits to hearing and taking to heart the words that are escaping other's mouths from time to time. Here's why.According to my dentist's records I politely declined a recommended procedure back in 2008 that would have cost a couple hundred bucks at the most. Course I wanted to save the $$ and while they did recommend they do the procedure they said it was up to me. Sounded like they just wanted my money. So instead I now get to spend about $2k on the same little problem only now the problem's not quite as small.Man I am a genius! It makes you feel really small when the doc and his assistant are joking about your intuition and how it's fairly apparent now they should have been taken seriously back in...(this is embarrassing) 2008. And how it may not be worth the doctor visits if you're not going to listen to him anyhow. So the doc is now asking for things like 'the explorer' (no joke!) instead of the floss and he now gets $2k instead of $200.But hey, lesson learned right?I hope so. Not listening to others around you, especially fellow team members, could cost you a lot more then two grand. There is a reason we're in this thing together, we need each other! This does not mean you always have do what other are telling you to do or never trust your gut. It means you listen, glean facts and data and then make your decision. So how bout it, sit down with your team and listen, you just might learn something!Question: When was the last time you realized you may not have all the answers?
