I’m Kent Lapp, and it’s great to have you here.
What I’m about.
I’m an Entrepreneur, Investor, & Optimistic Realist that is Saved by Grace.
I enjoy all things Business, Theology and the many other life choices in between.
I believe there is a reality to our abilities, resources, & plans. But anything of significance seems to often require no small amounts of optimism, willpower & old fashioned hard work.
Having a vision or goal, then creating a strategy & team to accomplish it -while benefiting all involved- has to be one of the many great opportunities & thrills there is here on this big earth!
On this site.
This site is my virtual home base. A personal thought HQ of sorts.
What you’ll find here are mostly thoughts, theories, ideas, concepts, and best practices from the journey of life, learnings from interactions with brighter minds, and the stewardship of blessings and businesses.
Everyone has a story, here’s mine.
I grew up in the beautiful Finger Lakes Region of New York State.
My father, Sanford Lapp, unfortunately was diagnosed with cancer at age 29, passing away 7 years later at the young age of 36. This left my mother, Barb, with the 4 of us kids and a small business to run. I was 10 years old at the time, but mom did a phenomenal job raising us kids while keeping the business going. My parents had a great relationship, it’s an inspiration to me to this day.
After graduating High School in 2002 I went straight into the family business that my father had started in 1983, Woodtex. After working in all areas of the company for several years we started the process of turning the day to day management over from mom to myself. Mom has since moved out of this company altogether, selling it to my brother Ben and I.
Woodtex currently has manufacturing & sales locations in four states, NY, SC, TX & TN, although we do sell and deliver nationwide. Check it out here: www.woodtex.com
Here’s my brother Ben and I at our 30 Year Anniversary Event for Woodtex several years back:
It was my dream from a very young age to start my own business. I’ve accomplished that dream now with the following:
-Hometowne Capital. A lease-purchase company. https://www.hometownerentals.com
-Wine Trail Properties. A Real Estate Brokerage & property management. http://www.winetrailproperties.com
-Riverwood Cabins. We build Cabins so You Can Build Memories! http://riverwoodcabins.com
-Firm Foundations & Excavating. A small-excavation company that I’ve since sold. www.firmfoundations.com
-Castle Point Paradise. A Vacation Destination in the Finger Lakes I’ve since sold. http://www.lappgroup.net/vacation-rental-home.asp?PageDataID=84555
I enjoy Real Estate as well. After getting a young start managing properties and tenants I quickly realized it’s potential and started investing as soon as I could.
I now love my beautiful wife and kids more than anything in the world. Coming home to my family is simply the favorite part of my day (which says a lot, I do love to work).
Here they are:
In 2014 we made the decision to move our family to Nashville TN, which is were we’re establishing Woodtex headquarters going forward. We love the people, culture, and weather (mostly) here!
I enjoy great food, travel, reading, strategizing, quality conversations, meeting new people, starting & growing businesses, talking about the ways of God and challenging myself and others to accomplish important goals.

What I believe.
You may not care to know, but in case you do…here’s my feeble effort of communicating what I mean by being ‘Saved by Grace’: http://kentlapp.com/2016/01/09/what-i-mean-when-i-say-that-i-am-a-christian/
