Leadercast Learnings

Last Friday (May 9th) was the annual Leadercast Event.

Most of the speakers present live in Atlanta, and then are simulcast all over the world.

The theme for this year’s Leadercast was beyond you.

I’m going to really distill it down and share my top takeaway or quote from each speaker.

But only one, which will be tough to do considering the quality of the content.

So here we go.

Andy Stanley:

“Beyond You leaders fearlessly and selflessly empower leaders around them, as well as others coming along behind them.”

Dr Henry Cloud:

“We always leave a wake and it’s two-sided:  Results & Relationships”.

Bill Rancic:

“The high road will always get you to where you want to go.”

Desmond Tutu:

“Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.”

Laura Schroff:

“We all have the ability to make a difference in someone’s life.”

(You might want to re-read that, there’s more there than you might think)

Laura Bush:

“I didn’t tell George what to do very much.  His advisors knew so much more and I didn’t want him telling me what to do all the time either.”

Rorke Denver:

“Leadership knowledge that never gets implemented in real life is not only irrelevant, it’s dangerous.”

(Sure hope I didn’t misquote that considering Rorke’s abilities)

Malcolm Gladwell:

“We follow authority that is: Legitimate, Fair, and Respectful.”

Randall Wallace:

“In industrial cities money is god, in Hollywood celebrity is god.”

Bill McDermot:

“It all begins and ends with the customer.”

Simon Sinek:

“I’m depressed that there’s even a demand for the basic stuff I teach.”

Which of these speakers or quotes is your favorite?
